Design and implementation of a B2B e-commerce user experience in an e-commerce portal
Berner is a leading European distributor in the construction, automotive and industrial sectors. In addition to sales by specially trained sales representatives, a B2B e-commerce portal was to be established as a further channel for the approximately 75,000 items in the product range.
We were tasked with developing a user experience specifically tailored to the individual B2B business requirements. For this, it was necessary to bring many different user flows into harmony. This ranges from product search and purchase to the efficient management of orders in the customer portal.
Due to the considerable size of the product range, our initial focus was on the findability and individual presentation of the categories and individual products. Good usability and a clear information architecture were particularly important. By working closely with Berner's IT, sales and marketing teams, we were able to successfully transfer Berner's analog shopping experience and the peculiarities of B2B business and service processes to a digital customer journey.
